What is a mojo bag?

A Mojo Bag (also commonly called a Gris-Gris Bag, Spell Bag, Spell Pouch, Sprit Bag or Trick Bag) is a talisman or an amulet that protects or aids the wearer and brings the energies of its varied components to bear on a specific purpose. There are many combinations of the herbs, oils, stones, bones, small artifact, piece of mirror, magnet or lodestone, nails, etc. Sometimes these bags will also include trinkets of special value or power unique to the practitioner. The contents of the bag, including the color of the bag can vary greatly from tradition to tradition and even from one practitioner in a given path to another practitioner in the same path.

Regardless of the path or spiritual tradition of the individual practitioner it has always been important to link each to the personal   energies of the wearer. Typically this is done by adding a single drop or other small portion of tear, sweat etc, from the wearer to the cloth of the bag. The binding to the wearer could is also achieved in some traditions by adding an eye lash, strand of hair, nail clipping or other such piece to the bag contents.

Placing the bag under your pillow for a night while you sleep is used in some magic traditions to bind the energy bound in the bag to the wearer without the need for physical binding.

In many magical traditions once a bag has been bound or activated for a specific wearer it is not to be opened or touched, or the contents touched, by any save the wearer. Doing so can interrupt the energies of the bag and weaken or destroy the magic.

Winter is an introspective period, which allows us to internalize and meditate on our actions, on our past and on our future. The festivals of Yule (from the Old Norse: Júl) are celebrated every winter solstice. This was a celebration of the Nordic people, related to Germanic mythology and Nordic paganism. In the northern hemisphere, Yule is celebrated around December 21, and in the southern hemisphere, around June 21.
The pagan festival of Yule has its origins in pre-Christian Scandinavia. It was mainly a family feast dedicated to fertility and reunion of the family. During this festival, dead family members are remembered. This party is organized in splendor and magnificence around the graves of the deceased relatives. It is also a period to show love and hospitality to strangers too.

Celebration of Yuletide

Symbolically speaking and in accordance with Neopagan traditions, Yule represents the rebirth of God after his death in Samhain and it is the first seasonal ritual of the Wheel of the year, the 8 Sabbats, which correspond to solar feasts: Yule, Imbolc, Ostara , Beltane , Litha , Lugnasah, Mabon and Samhain .
During this time, nature is asleep so that is why it is a perfect time to meditate, recollect and make plans for the new year. Yule is expected to last for twelve days which represents the twelve months of the year. During the corresponding TWELVE nights, the dead ones appear in different forms to visit their relatives.  This is a time for religious-level initiations, whose necessary elements are constituted by the extinction and renewal of fire.
 

 
The main ritual performed in the Yule period is the ritual burning of the Yule log for 12 hours. This log is a large trunk commonly made of pine or willow, cut in the previous Yule and carefully guarded. The entire ritual is directed by the druid or dryad priest in charge of the celebration. The trunk is specially selected by the druid, who communicates with the trees to ask for their permission and know which log would be perfect for use. Later on, sacred symbols of rebirth, male figures and the sun are carved on it.
In Druidism, the Yule also means the time of the greatest amount of energetic power so magical rituals performed at this time are usually very powerful.

THE CHRISTMAS TREE

This is a custom inherited from the Celtic people who were known for burning a tree trunk on the  night of solstice, to celebrate the rebirth of the sun and to attract prosperity. When the Celts adopted this custom, around 1100 BC, they collected a log after solstice and kept it.
A few days before the festival, they decorated it with pineapples, holly, ivy and other evergreen plants. These adorned trees are placed in the home, so that all the members of the family could touch it and leave treats and gifts.  The log was lit on the night of the solstice (it was usually the mother who sets the fire) then it is allowed to burn slowly. After everything had been burnt, the ashes were taken and kept as a sacred substance which could be used to cure diseases.  Some charred remnants were kept and used to light the fire of the following year’s log.

An egg is a symbol of life and when it is fertilized it contains the necessary elements that enhance growth and development of the embryo. The egg serves as a gateway into a new life and in the spiritual world it serves as an effective element that is used to absorb bad energies, dense energies, psychic or spiritual negativity. In the spiritual realm, these types of energies are usually contrary to the growth and development of life.

The energetic cleanings with eggs are classic rituals performed especially in Latin America. They are used to ward off the evil eye of jealousy and negative intentions toward you.

There are different eggs cleansing rituals you can perform so you should choose the one you like most.  Egg cleansing rituals can be done any day, but it is recommended that you perform it during a waning moon because that is the right time to eliminate bad energies.

Ritual One

Egg Ritual to Cleanse Negative Energy

 Ingredients

• 1 white candle
• 1 fresh chicken egg
• 1 glass cup with water
• A pinch of sea salt or coarse salt

Process

• Light the white candle,
• Take the egg with your right hand,
• Make small circles from your head to feet, without touching your skin with the egg,
• Remember to pass it all over your body without forgetting any part,
• Break and pour the egg into a glass of water then add a pinch of salt,
• Discard the shell and allow the salt to neutralize the negative charge.
• Then analyze the contents of the glass.

Note: This ritual should be done in a quiet place and most preferably at night.

 

Ritual Two

Spiritual cleansing of a sick person

Step 1: Place an egg in each corner of the room, it will discharge the room of dense energy and enable the sick patient to find more rest in his sleep thus relieving the tension and discomfort of his astral state.

Step 2: Place an egg in each of the corners of your bed, this is an extra help and will enhance what has been done previously.

The eggs should be changed every week, but if they break faster it can be due to two reasons. The first may be due to a change in temperature which makes the egg to rot.

The second reason may be that the egg has already absorbed enough negativity and that is why it breaks. Whatever might be the case just replace the egg with another and dispose the former  in a trash.

Procedure:

Cook the egg and wait until it cools. When it is cold, write the name of your loved one and the name of your rival, forming a cross. The next step is to bury the egg in a safe place and make sure no one finds it. Now, you just have to stay patient and wait for the result.
